CBCGDF is dedicated to save the endangered pangolins. On Aug 16, it has established a Community Conservation Area (#CCAfa) for Pangolins at Malin, a traditional minority ethnic Yao village located in Hunan Province, China. At an average altitude of 900m, the Yao place is a traditional distribution area for the nowadays-endangered species Pangolins. According to indigenous people, there are evidence of pangolins’ existence.
This is part of our continuous endeavor towards the goal of “making 2017 a turning point for the Pangolins”. We also found two other sites with evidence of pangolin activity, yet we decided to remain their infomation undisclosed due to the severe local illegal poaching situation. Besides, we are also actively working on a draft proposal advising China to develop a national strategic conservation plan for pangolins.
