Wuhan Zoo Seeks Support from All Walks of Life to Ensure the Normal Life of Animals

On February 1st, the Wuhan Zoo issued an announcement saying that at the moment of the epidemic, Wuhan has implemented strict traffic and logistics controls, and some aquatic products in the city’s farmer’s markets have been cut off. At present, the zoo’s aquatic products are about to run out. They sincerely ask for support from all walks of life to ensure the normal life of animals!

Wuhan Zoo needs 30 catties loach every day, 40 catties freshwater small fish, 30 catties multi-spring fish or small yellow croakers. It’s urgent for people from all walks of life to help provide supply channels, the zoo can purchase. In addition, the zoo can also accept social donations, and the supply of goods needs to be safe and reliable.

The China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to environmental protection and biodiversity conservation. It was originated from the Milu (Père David's Deer) reintroduction in 1985. As China's leading biodiversity conservation NGO, It carried out many biodiversity research projects in the past years. To explore Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs), the CBCGDF has launched an innovative Protected Area pragramme called Community Conservation Areas (CCAfa) to mobilize people's participation, with 110 CCAfas established since 2016. It actively fights illegal wildlife trade (esp. pangolins) via underground and cyber investigations, endangered species' black-market surveys, environmental awareness initiatives, scientific research, big data analysis and international cooperation. The CBCGDF is with about 50 staff and tens of thousands of registered volunteers. With a national-level public fundraising license, the CBCGDF has funded over hundred grass root environmental NGOs and individuals in the past three years. It envisions a world where people prosper while living in harmony with nature.
