On February 24, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress passed the “Decision”, on the basis of the “Wild Animal Protection Law”, with a comprehensive ban on the consumption of wild animals as a guide, expand the scope of legal adjustment, and provide a strong guarantee for the lives and health of the people.
In order to strengthen patrolling around Tianjin, especially in animal protection, environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, etc., the volunteers of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) in Tianjin have been sticking to the front line, actively carrying out related activities, and strengthening patrol.

On April 16, volunteers inspected the surrounding provinces and cities in Tianjin. The first stop was Langfang, Hebei Province. When conducting patrols, volunteers discovered illegal behaviors and actively assisted relevant government departments in conducting investigations.
At around 7 am, when volunteers were patrolling in Matou Village, Matou Town, Anci District, Langfang, Hebei, they found a household of illegal poaching and selling wild birds kept in two courtyards. The volunteers quickly responded and immediately reported to the Forest Public Security and Langfang Natural Resources Bureau. Shortly afterwards, the relevant departments rushed to the scene, searched out some bird catching nets, and investigated the relevant offenders. All the seized birds are sent to the wildlife rescue station in Langfang Nature Park. Thumbs up to the swift action of relevant departments.

On April 18, CBCGDF volunteers were still patrolling in Langfang, Hebei, and found wild bird animals in a flower and bird store in Hancun, West Street, Yongqing County, Langfang. There were a total of 16 wild animals, including 14 migratory birds and 2 gray squirrels. There were also 1 Chinese grosbeak, 1 lark, 1 Vietnamese starling, 4 Siberian Rubythroats, 5 carduelis, 2 white-eyes, and 2 gray squirrels. Volunteers reported such violations, and the law enforcement department Yongqing County Natural Resources Bureau and the public security rushed to the scene and investigated the relevant offenders.
“During these two days of inspection, during the epidemic, the illegal trafficking of wild animals in the market is still serious. No matter how good the treatment is in Tianjin, the proliferation of wild poaching and sales in the surrounding areas will also affect the ecological environment of Tianjin. In the provinces and cities around Tianjin, they were hunted and sold, and eventually the ecological balance will be destroyed, so the overall governance system should be strengthened. ” the volunteers said.
