On April 10th, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) research team tracked and reported that a kilometer-long birding net was discovered in a 200-mu fishpond in Changting County, Longyan City, Fujian Province. On April 11, the CBCGDF research team has received feedback. It is said that the local authorities have already gone to the site where the bird catching net is erected, and the bird net has been completely cleaned up.
At the same time, the county’s forest public security, forestry station, police station and other departments have also carried out law enforcement and investigation and evidence collection and have officially filed the case and will transfer it to the procuratorate.
On the morning of April 12, according to sources familiar with the matter, the last few bamboo poles around the fishpond have also been removed.
The CBCGDF research team praised the efficient actions of local government departments. Changting County is a famous “red land” in China. CBCGDF also hopes that Changting can give full play to its ecological advantages, establish a long-term protection mechanism, and establish a national model for ecological protection. This is also what the people of the country expect from Changting County.
