Zhou Jinfeng: Proposed to Establish Antibiotic-Free Industry Fund to Help Biosecurity

On July 17, 2020, the establishment meeting of the Antibiotic-Free Industry Committee of the National Agricultural Technology Entrepreneurship Innovation Alliance was held at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. As an expert representative, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, the Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) participated in the discussion of the meeting remotely.

Participants at this conference included Liu Jian, chairman of the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance, Xu Yuexian, former vice president of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, chairman of the Antibiotic-Free Industry Committee of the alliance, and Li Tongbin, executive chairman and Secretary-General of the alliance, and leaders of related units, including He Xintian, Secretary-General of China Animal Husbandry Association, Cai Xuepeng, President of China Veterinary Medicine Association, Wang Defen, Vice President of China Fisheries Association, Cui He, President of China Aquatic Products Processing and Distribution Association, Gan Xiaoying, executive vice chairman and Secretary-General of the Antibiotic-Free Industry Committee of the alliance.

Dr. Zhou Jinfeng delivered a speech through online participation, mainly discussing issues of biosecurity and establishing an Antibiotic-Free Industry Fund:

First of all, the Antibiotic-Free Industry Committee is based on food safety and biosafety, involving the interests of all relevant parties and participating institutions, which is very important. But China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) hopes to participate in the Antibiotic-Free Alliance on behalf of the public and other lives.

For example, in Tianjin, an Oriental white stork, a national first-class protected animal, was poisoned to death because it ate poisoned fish by accident, which was caused by the abuse of pesticide and its harmful effects in the environment. Dr. Zhou also pointed out that this is also an important reason why the antibiotic-free industry puts forward the proposition of antibiotic-free.

CBCGDF hopes that as a national first-level society in related fields, it can make due contributions to the development of the antibiotic-free industry in the fields of biodiversity and green development.

Secondly, CBCGDF is also a national public welfare foundation. It has proposed to establish China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Antibiotic-Free Industry Fund, through public support and participation, the consensus and strength of the public are gathered to support the basic research, standard formulation, and industrialization promotion of the antibiotic-free industry.
