The EPIL Case of the Yangtze River Phosphorus-Related Pollution by an Enterprise in Zhongxiang, Hubei Province Filed by CBCGDF was Finally Filed | The Difficult “Guardian One Kilometer of the Yangtze River”

On September 14, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) received the notice of acceptance of the case from the Intermediate People’s Court of Yichang City, Hubei Province, and it officially accepted the environmental public interest litigation (EPIL) case of phosphorus-related pollution in the Yangtze River  filed by CBCGDF.

On April 29, 2019, CBCGDF filed an EPIL case in Wuhan Maritime Court for the case of phosphorus pollution in the Yangtze River for the first time. Although the original intention was public welfare, the process was particularly tortuous. It experienced: Wuhan Maritime Court did not accept – CBCGDF appealed to Hubei Higher People’s Court – Hubei Higher People’s Court instructed Wuhan Maritime Court to file the case for acceptance – Wuhan Maritime Court accepted the case – Wuhan Maritime Court notified the extension of proof – Wuhan Maritime Court transferred to Yichang City Intermediate People’s Court – Yichang Intermediate People’s Court accepted the case, the series of twists and turns. The case will finally enter the formal trial stage, and the “Guardian One Kilometer of the Yangtze River” of CBCGDF has finally taken a difficult step!
