The Earth Biogenome Project (EBP) is another large international project after the Human Genome Project. The goal is to sequence and annotate approximately 1.5 million known eukaryotes within 10 years. Genome projects and civil society organizations covering many countries have joined the international program. As a member of EBP, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) participated in the EBP monthly meeting in January 2022 and communicated with relevant experts at the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the host of the meeting, Harris Lewins, updated the changes in rules and regulations of the past year, including the improvement of data collection and sampling process. Other members then spoke and discussed the proposal on digital sequence information on genetic resources (DSI) and related amendments.
During the discussion stage, Zhang Daqian, representative of the International Department of CBCGDF, gave a speech, describing the previous experience of CBCGDF in the first phrase of the fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15) in 2021, and expressed his willingness to provide on-site discussions for the EBP proposal, and to promote the data sharing efforts. The person in charge of EBP-related topics expressed the hope to conduct further exchanges, and to understand the submission process and feedback mechanism of relevant opinions through the observer status of CBCGDF.
