On June 6, 2022, the Conference of the Parties (BRS COPs) of the three international chemical conventions (Basel Convention, Rotterdam Convention and Stockholm Convention, referred to as BRS) was held as scheduled at the CICG International Conference Centre in Geneva, Switzerland. China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), as an observer to BRS, attended the meeting at invitation with a representative in Geneva. At 18:15 Swiss time, the side event themed on “2050, Plastic-Free Planet Outlook” organized by CBCGDF Plastic Reduction and Plastic Pickup Working Group opened in Geneva.
Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF, made an opening speech as follows:
Friends in Geneva, friends of the world, good morning and good afternoon,
On behalf of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation, I would like to take this opportunity of the BRS Conference of the Parties to express my sincere thanks to all the speakers and participants who participated in our side event.
Come together today to share knowledge, experiences, advice and perspectives to help build a better future and work towards a plastic-free planet by 2050. Let’s do our best together!
We can assure you that we will make your voice heard in Geneva, China and around the world. We will show, share and recommend your ideas to authorities, the public. Ultimately, we will have a better understanding of the problems we face today.
