Recently, the Organizing Committee of the 17th International Conference on Genomics (ICG-17) announced that ICG-17 will be held in four cities : Chengdu（Sept.1st-4 th），Hangzhou (Sept.5 th -8 th), Qingdao (Sept.6th -8 th ) and Shenzhen (Sept. 14th -17th ). In addition, a special European session will be held in Riga, the capital of Latvia from Sept. 6th to 9th.
Since its inauguration in 2006, ICG has established itself as a premier conference featuring cutting-edge ‘omics’ technologies and idea sharing. With the participation and support of scientific research elites and business leaders in the global omics and medical fields, ICG has developed into a science and medical event which has global influence, and it has become a platform that share with the best minds in ‘omics’ and its application from institutions all over the world.
During the past 2 years, Omics and its related technologies have been playing an important role in the global fight against COVID. ICG-17 will take “Omics and Future” as its annual theme, continue to carry forward the culture of Human Genome Project (HGP), and advocates worldwide cooperation and sharing in all human beings, especially to promote international cooperation in developing countries.
This annual meeting will continue to focus on the traditional sectors of ICG: 1. Omics, Medicine and Health; 2. Biodiversity; 3. Marine Omics; 4. Bio-industry Development and Cooperation; 5. Frontier Technologies and Development of Omics; 6. Humanities and Bioethics in Omics; 7. Public Participation and Science Carnival.
There are also many innovations and several Roundtables set up for this year: 1. “New Technology, New Application, New Scenario, New Growth” forum; 2. the Midwest and the “Yangtze River Delta” Regional bio-industry development forums; 3. “Hospital Director” Forum; 4. “The Long-Term Impact of Coronavirus on Human Health and Response to the Next Outbreak” Forum; 5. “Omics and the Olympics” Forum; 5. “Women Scientists and Women Enterprises” forum, etc.
“We cordially invite friends, old and new, who share our passion for creating a better world for everyone through omics to participate in ICG-17, “Academician Yang Huanming, the chairman of the conference, warmly welcomed in the invitation letter, “Please check the date: Sept.1-17, 2022. For more information, please check our website: https://icg.bio/ .”
It is particularly worth mentioning that the ICG-17 officially announced the adoption of the national group standard “Green Conference Standard” (T/CGDF 00027-2021). In order to implement the concept of low-carbon recycling and sustainable development, ICG-17 will integrate the concept of green conferences into the preparation and holding process, for example, reducing paper printing materials, reducing disposable products, advocating using personal cups, saving food, garbage classification, low-carbon travel, and enabling more people to benefit from knowledge sharing through open access, to effectively reduce resource consumption and Carbon footprint.
Biodiversity at the genetic level is one of the important research fields of biodiversity. Since 2019, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), as one of the co-sponsors of the International Genomics Conference, has been actively co-hosting and organizing biodiversity-themed conferences and side events for three consecutive years.
