Recently, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) received application from Huainan Bird Caring Association for the establishment of CCAfa at Yuanyang Lake for Mandarin Ducks (Aix galericulata) and at Caicheng Pong for Tundra Swans (Cygnus columbianus). Through careful examination, CBCGDF decided to officially established these two places as CCAfa 195 and 196 respectively with Chen Bin, President of Huainan Bird Caring Association and member of China Photographers Association, as director of the two reserves.
Yuanyang Lake and Caicheng Pond are important habitats for birds in Huainan City. In recent years, with the improvement of ecological environment, the species and number of birds that come to Caicheng Pond to live and settle are increasing. Although local governments at all levels and bird lovers have done a lot of publicity work on bird protection, it is still difficult to avoid the conflict between people and birds.
In order to better protect the birds in Yuanyang Lake and Caicheng Pond, and reduce the impact of human activities on birds and their habitats, the establishment of CCAfa is approved. In the future, the director and volunteers will continue to join hands with forestry departments and public security departments to raise the awareness of biodiversity protection of local citizens and do a good job in the protection of migratory birds and their wintering habitats.
