CBCGDF Deputy Secretary-General Talks about Ocean Protection and “Peoples vs. Plastics”

At 13:30 on June 6, 2024, the Publicity Department of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) hosted a live broadcast event, themed “Hai Banban, the World Oceans Day IP Theme Image Releasing and New Deep Awakening“. Ms. XIONG Yutong, CBCGDF Deputy Secretary-General, talked about ocean protection and “Peoples vs. Plastics”programme at the meeting.

I want to talk about plastics, because plastic pollution poses a continuous and particularly huge threat and harm to the earth, especially the ocean. Plastic pollution, together with climate change and other factors, threatens the ecological security of the ocean.

April 22, 2024 is Earth Day. The theme of Earth Day is “Planet vs. Plastics”. The choice of this theme actually reflects the seriousness of the current plastic pollution problem. Plastics, a material that has been used on a large scale by humans for less than 100 years, has brought convenience to human life while also bringing many side effects, bringing a large-scale ecological disaster to the earth that is difficult to solve, and the ocean has become the biggest victim.
