CBCGDF Volunteers Participated in the Fishery Protection Campaign in Hulan District

On June 7, volunteers from the Songha Wetland Reserve of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) cooperated in the action.

A total of 20 people were dispatched, including 1 propaganda vehicle, 6 law enforcement vehicles, 2 fishery law enforcement speedboats, 6 banners, 30 fishery safety brochures were distributed, 4 stalls selling wild fish were inspected in accordance with the law, 12 practitioners were warned and educated, and 1 suspect of illegal fishing and obstruction of public service was transferred to the public security organs for administrative investigation and punishment in accordance with the law.

Since the fishing ban in the Songhua River this year, various departments in Huluan District have jointly implemented control measures on fishery production personnel and vessels to ensure the conservation and survival of aquatic biodiversity and further optimization of the ecological environment.

It is important to pay attention to the public opinion during the action. In response to the clues of suspected illegal fishing of aquatic products during the fishing ban period provided by volunteers, we adopt the method of “attacking the source, blocking the sales route, and blocking both ends”. We have appointed special personnel to form a special team. On the one hand, we have increased the intensity of patrols and created an atmosphere of strict management and control.

On the other hand, we have closely coordinated with the public law enforcement agencies  around key river basins and important nodes, seamlessly connected with the fishery administration, and advanced both on land and water, set up checkpoints and control, patrolled day and night, and strived to arrest a number of suspects, solve a number of cases, and give citizens and volunteers a satisfactory explanation.
