The 8th IUCN Asia Regional Conservation Forum (RCF) will be held in Bangkok, Thailand (the location of the IUCN Asia Office) from September 3 to 5, 2024. The Deputy Secretary General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) will participate on-site.
The theme of this conference is ” Reimagining Conservation in Asia: A Nature Positive Future”. Since the foundation of IUCN in 1948, the world conservation community has rapidly developed, becoming more active and complex. The scope of IUCN’s work has also evolved from nature protection to conservation, sustainable use of natural resources, and now to broader social challenges. As the world continues to fight against the triple Earth crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution, IUCN faces the key challenge of formulating its strategic agenda and direction for the next few decades. This conference provides a timely and crucial opportunity for reflection: what changes need to be made to maintain relevance and influence in a world that is completely different from when IUCN was founded over 70 years ago?
This conference is jointly organized by the IUCN National Committee of Thailand and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand，in order to further unite the members of the union, evaluate conservation progress, re-examine priority goals, and propose strategic directions for the main stakeholders in the region to most effectively address environmental and biodiversity challenges in the next 20 years.
