Recently, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has established a Community Conservation Area (CCAfa) for Rare Waterbirds Species in Zhalong Wetland Nature Reserve in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province, after careful on-site investigation, for the purpose of protecting its precious wildlife resources and wetland ecological environment.
Zhalong Wetland Nature Reserve is a rare waterfowl distribution area in China mainly for cranes and other large waterfowls, and it is the world’s largest breeding ground for the red-crowned cranes.
In order to maintain ecological balance, publicise wildlife protection knowledge, crack down on hunting, killing, illegal trading and other illegal acts of wildlife, and guard the home of the cranes, grey cranes and other rare birds in the wetland, the Community Conservation Area (CCAfa) has been established.
Community Conservation Area (CCAfa) for Rare Waterbirds Species in Zhalong Wetland Nature Reserve in Qiqihar mainly protects: red-crowned cranes, grey cranes, and wild bird species such as waxbills, yellowbirds, mackerel, mallard ducks, etc. In addition, it will also carry out wildlife rescue, as well as assisting in artificial propagation, scientific releases, to contribute to the maintenance of ecological balance in the wetland.
CBCGDF volunteers here have previously carried out a number of protection and rescue work, in last winter’s icing period, many birds successfully back to nature with their kindhearted and patient help.
