How to Promote the “UN International Decade of Science for Sustainable Development” in the 1st Year | The 15th Program of the “Yoyo Luming-Interview with CBCGDF Experts”

On April 26, 2024, the 15th program of the “Yoyo Luming – Interview with CBCGDF Experts” organized by the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) was successfully live streamed, with the theme of “Planetary Reconciliation. Time for an Earth-Humanity Coalition, in support of the UN Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development 2024 -2033”.The CBCGDF media  broadcast the interview, with 1,400 online participants.

The interview program invited 4 guests, Carlos Alvarez Pereira, Secretary General of the Club of Rome; Prof. Dr. Vesna Vucinic Neskovic, Department of Ethnology and Anthropology, University of Belgrade, Serbia; Dr. Marta Nešković, researcher in the field of ethnology and anthropology at the Institute of Political Science in Belgrade, Serbia and Ms.WANG Hanyuan, the first Chinese woman selected by the United Nations as a young leader for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The four guests focused on possible challenges and solutions in the implementation of the “United Nations International Decade of Science for Sustainable Development 2024-2033”, what actions stakeholders should take to promote sustainable development, and how artificial intelligence can better help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, how to reduce inequalities in sustainable development, and truly realize the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and the core transformation commitment of the Sustainable Development Goals – “leaving no one behind”.

During the interviews, all the guests emphasized that there are many challenges and difficulties in the implementation of the ten-year plan for sustainable development science, but collaboration and innovation can help mankind solve these problems. Governments, research institutions, social organizations, etc. from various countries should join hands to promote cross-field cooperation and knowledge sharing. We need to continue to leverage the power of science, including advances in artificial intelligence, to promote sustainable development. However, it should be noted that the development of these technologies should be transparent and responsible, used to benefit everyone, and strive to reduce inequality in sustainable development, leaving no one behind.
