After on-site review by experts from the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Forestry Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sichuan University, and Chengdu University of Technology, Chengdu Yunqiao Wetland was awarded the “Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Demonstration Base” (No. BCGD-002) of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) on April 28, 2024.
This evaluation was carried out based on the group standard “Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Demonstration Base Evaluation Standard” issued by the CBCGDF Standard Working Committee. It is also an important result of the local active promotion of wetland ecosystem protection and construction.
It is understood that the forest and grass coverage rate in Yunqiao Wetland is 56.4%, and it has good naturalness. It attaches great importance to ecological protection and restoration based on natural forces. In terms of biodiversity, 353 species of wild higher plants have been recorded in the wetland, including the national second-level key protected plants Phoebe, Fagopyrum dibotrys, and the Sichuan endemic plant Impatiens rhombifolia; the number of vertebrate species has increased to 223, including Chengdu Unique fish species include Rhodeinae cyanorostris, etc., and the breeding behaviors of Prionailurus bengalensis , Sibirionetta formosa, and the first Paradoxornis alphonsianus and Acrocephalus stentoreus in the Chengdu Plain were observed and recorded.
