As a symbol of the European integration process, European Day is an important anniversary of the European Union every year and a grand event demonstrating the spirit of European unity and cooperation. On May 9, 2024, the 2024 European Day event was held in Beijing. The Deputy Secretary General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) attended the event at the invitation of Mr. Jorge Toledo, Ambassador of the European Union to China.
The Constitutional Treaty sets 9 May as Europe Day in memory of the Declaration made by the French Foreign Minister, Robert Schuman, on 9 May 1950, which is conventionally seen as the date on which the building of Europe began.
