On the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity, the Huaihe Source Landscape Forest Conservation Project Team of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) launched a public survey on biodiversity conservation in Tongbai County from April to May 2024. The purpose of this survey is to understand the public’s awareness, attitude and behavior of biodiversity conservation in Tongbai County, and the current situation of biodiversity conservation and sustainable use in Tongbai County. Through the collection and analysis of questionnaire data, it can provide reference for Tongbai County to formulate more accurate and effective biodiversity protection strategies.
The subjects of this survey were residents of Tongbai County and surrounding counties, and 193 valid questionnaires were collected online. The questionnaire covers basic information such as residence, age, gender, education background, and awareness, attitude and behavior about biodiversity conservation.
The results show that the residents of Tongbai County have a high awareness and positive attitude towards biodiversity conservation, but there are still gaps in specific knowledge and actions.
To this end, the following recommendations are made:
Strengthen publicity and education on biodiversity protection, raise public awareness of the importance of biodiversity, and guide the public to form a green production and lifestyle.
Strengthen market supervision, regulate market behavior, protect important local biological genetic resources and important species, and prevent illegal hunting and trading.
Formulate and improve policies for biodiversity conservation, and introduce policies to support the protection of key species or important ecosystems to provide a strong guarantee for biodiversity conservation.
Establish a demonstration base for biodiversity conservation and sustainable utilization, and promote biodiversity conservation and sustainable utilization practice to play an important role in realizing the value of ecological products in Tongbai County.
Scientific and technological innovation in biodiversity conservation and sustainable use should be strengthened to promote the positive interaction between biodiversity conservation and economic and social development.
