Legal Working Committee of CBCGDF Pays Attention to Abnormal Death of Tigers in Anhui Province

Recently, the Legal Working Committee of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation received reports from volunteers that a company in Anhui Province had illegally domesticated and bred Siberian tigers without the relevant qualifications.

Legal Working Committee of CBCGDF attaches great importance to this reflection. After investigation, the following issues were discovered: 1. The company has not obtained a license for artificial breeding of wild Siberian tigers; 2. The company does have Siberian tigers, and the living environment of Siberian tigers is extremely harsh, which seriously threatens the health and life of Siberian tigers. 3. The company’s artificial breeding sites and equipment for Siberian tigers were non-compliant and non-standard, resulting in the death of more than ten wild Siberian tigers from abnormal causes. The lives of the Siberian tigers still living in the park are in danger.

At present, the Legal Working Committee of CBCGDF is based on protecting wild animals and safeguarding social and public interests. It has written to the Anhui Provincial Forestry Bureau to investigate and deal with the company’s illegal domestication of Siberian tigers and make relevant decisions in accordance with the law. At the same time, the Green Legal Working Committee of CBCGDF applied to the Anhui Provincial Forestry Bureau for government information disclosure, requesting the disclosure of the source, number, health status and disposal methods of the corpses of the company’s domesticated Siberian tigers.
